The LA Woolly Bugger is a proven, high-performing streamer built for natural movement and a controlled presentation when fish are feeding higher in the water column.
Tied on a barbed hook without a bead head.
This unweighted version allows for a slower sink rate and softer entry, making it ideal for shallow water, slow retrieves, and pressured fish that won’t commit to heavier flies. The marabou tail and palmered hackle create constant lifelike motion, allowing the fly to imitate baitfish, leeches, and other subsurface prey with minimal effort.
Designed for trout, bass, and panfish, the LA Woolly Bugger excels when subtle presentation and natural drift outperform faster-sinking streamers.
Why It Works
• Slower, natural sink rate for better presentation • Constant movement from marabou tail and hackle • Excellent for shallow water and slow retrieves • Proven woolly bugger profile that produces year-round • Effective across multiple freshwater species
Best Uses
• Shallow water streamer fishing • Slow retrieves and dead drifting • Fishing pressured or finicky fish • Situations where a soft entry matters
